Winterwood English Springer Spaniels

We are a family of 8! My husband and I and our 6 children operate a small kennel of English Springer Spaniels.

2009--We currently have two adult males, Romeo and Trilogy; one adult female, Southern Belle, and a young female, Winterwood Ellie Mae, sired by our champion Romeo.  We have been raising Springers since the early 80's and it's just a hard thing to give up!  We have 1 or sometimes 2 litters a year.  The few puppies we have to offer are top quality and are bred for beauty, brains, and excellent dispositions. 

How Winterwood came to be

Shortly after my husband and I were married, he surprised me one night by bringing home and brown and white puppy. I had always wanted an English Springer Spaniel, but had only seen them in pictures. When he told me it was an English Springer Spaniel I knew one of my dreams had come true! Feather de Manuel was the best dog I had ever had. He was my friend and loyal companion. He turned out to be such a good hunting dog that my husband decided to get another Springer. This one was a female Springer and the rest is history.
In 1980 we had our first litter of English Springer Spaniels. Since then, we have strived to obtain both show and fieldtrial quality dogs for our breeding program. My husband is a busy attorney and the children and I find ourselves busy at home doing what we really enjoy--- and that is raising the wonderful, beautiful and delightful English Springer Spaniel!

Our Children

Much credit goes to my six children who help love, hug and care for our dogs and puppies.
Our oldest, our son Isaac, 22, takes our fieldbred dogs pheasant hunting with his dad to places in western Kansas. He also keeps our computer up and running.
Our oldest daughter, Lauren, now 20, looks beautiful in many of the pictures I take with her handling the dogs. She helps Mom figure out how to put pictures on our websites.
Our next daughter, Risa, now 19, loves animals, especially Golden Retrievers, and is now a junior in college.
Jessalyn, 18, helps feeds the dogs and is great at giving them baths.
Emily,15, is "mother's helper" and is learning to take care of newborn puppies.
Libby, 13, loves to hug and cuddle puppies as much as the rest of us.
Let's just say our dogs and puppies get lots of love! LATEST UPDATE: Our oldest son, Isaac, is attending college and has his pilots license. Lauren, our oldest daughter, is married and is attending law school. Risa is studying in Costa Rica and will be finishing her degree at KU. Jessalyn is attending Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. Her plans is to attend nursing school in the fall of '08. Emily and Libby are still at home. They are the main helpers with the puppies now.

 *Please note our children are now several years older. Five are in college, but all of them remain in the area and several still live at home and enjoy the dogs and puppies.
